I'd like to share this story with everyone since I feel it has a wonderful message for everyone. Hope you enjoy it.
This was written by Jamie Sam's & David Carson

One day fawn heard Great Spirit calling to her from the top of sacred mountain. Fawn immediately started up the trail. She didn't know that a horrible demon guarded the way to Great Spirit's lodge. The demon was trying to keep all the beings of creation from connecting with Great Spirit. He wanted all of Great Spirit's creatures to feel that Great Spirit didn't want to be disturbed. This would make the demon feel powerful, and capable of causing them to fear him.
Fawn was not at all frightened when she came upon the demon. This was curious, as the demon was the archetype of all the ugly monsters that have ever been. The demon breathed fire & smoke and made disgusting sounds to frighten Fawn.
Any normal creature would have fled or died on the spot from fright.
Fawn however, said gently to the demon, "Please let me pass", I am on my way to see Great Spirit"
Fawns eye's were filled with love & compassion for this over sized bully of a demon. The demon was astounded by Fawn's lack of fear. No matter how he tried, he could not frighten Fawn because her love had penetrated his hardened ugly heart.
Much to the demons dismay, his rock-hard heart began to melt, and his body shrank to the size of a walnut. Fawn's persistent love and gentleness had caused the meltdown of the demon. Due to this gentleness and caring that Fawn embodied , the pathway is now clear for all of Great Spirit's children to reach Sacred Mountain without having to deal with the demons of fear blocking the way.

If we use the power of love and gentleness to touch those who have pain that are attempting to stop us from reaching Sacred Mountain. Like the markings of Fawns coat, both light & dark may be loved to create gentleness & safety for those who are seeking peace.

oh wow, I love that - it is so profound. How often do we as humans respond to anger or fear with exactly the same thing back? It is so hard to love when someone hurts you....this is why it is so important to make that extra effort.

Hi everyone.

I found this story in a book that Im reading by Bear Heart & Molly Larkin. Im not sure of the meaning exactly the only conclusion That I came to was to listen & self forgivness, But I'll let you make up your own mind.

A little boy asked his grandfather "Why does that dove have a sad song?" His grandfather told him, "It was something that happend a long time ago. A little dove's father & mother were killed by some humans, so he was raised by his grandmother, who loved him very much. As the dove got bigger, he started playing with other birds out in the forest and he'd stay out late. It worries my for you to stay out late. His grandmother said, 'I wish you wouldn't do that. It worries me for you to stay out late. Something might happen to you. The dove said, 'Alright I wont stay out so late'. But then he met some other birds, who played a game called gambling. I don't know what kind of gambling they did, but they played for acorns, walnuts and hickory nuts and he would go from one place to another to gamble. Once he got a whole lot of walnuts and didn't come back for severel days.
"One day a messenger found the little dove & said your grandmother is very ill. You should come back. 'Okay' he said 'after this game', but after that game he played another because he was winning. Two days passed and another messenger came. 'Your grandmother's very ill, we don't know if she'll make it through the night.' 'All right' he said. But he couldn't stop and still another day went by until all of a sudden he lost evrything he had. He thought he had a lot of friends , but they had all left and he found himself alone.
"Then he began to think of his grandmother. He rememberd how she loved him and took care of him, how she was always there for him when he was sick. 'Now I've let my grandmother down. I'll go straight home.' By the time he got there, his grandmother had died. So he told the people, 'From this day on, my song will be a sad song in mourning for my grandmother.'
And that was the beginning of the morning dove's song."

Zanna, this to me sounds of finding balance in ones life. The dove was trying to escape life and in the mean time lost a life, a loved one. Very sad thing,yet many people struggle with on a daily basis.

Stamina

Elk wandered through the forest looking for a partner. The mating season was in full swing, and the bucks that usually traveled with the other males had disapeared to find mates for the season. As Elk bellowed his mating call through the forest, bugling alerted Mountain lion that a feast could be in the making.

Mountain lion circled Elk, getting closer to his prey moment by moment. Elk sensed the impending danger when the forest grew suddenly silent. He broke for the high country when he spotted his pursuer, but Mountain Lion was far behind. As Elk made a running leap for the timber line. Mountain Lion gained on him, but Elk continued to run onward, displaying tremendous stamina. Finally Mountain Lion gave up, having spent his energy in spurts as he tried to jump over boulders to reach Elk. Elk paced himself, making headway as he climed skyward toward the high country. Elk had no other defence except his to go the distance, setting a pace that allowed him to utilize his stamina to the fullest.

"Elk medicine teaches that pacing yourself will increase your stamina. Elk medicine people may not be the first to arrive at a goal, but they always arrive without getting burned out"

A good story Zanna, to complete any task you need to break it down into stages and set a goal and pace yourself as in the story to get it comleted.

The dove story said to me

'no matter what distractions life may throw at you, always make time for the important stuff'

I havent read the story under that yet................bath is getting cold. (probably already freezing, lol)
