I have conflicting thoughts. Whenever I think of a postive a negative pops in my head as well. I don't know how to get rid of the negative. Am I not supposed to?
Blue is my thoughts Red is my opposite
I need to find solice They keep on watching I need to be humble They keep on clapping I need to be calm They keep on shouting I wish it would stop raining It's gonna rain forever

Dear Smeets,
I think we all have conflicting thoughts in our heads from time to time. It is best not to dwell on them just let them flow over you or even better try to meditate. Meditation is a great way of quieting or calming the mind. Our thoughts can often run amuck if we don’t keep them in check!
I like to meditate on problems or just for relaxation it helps me see things better and clearer and from another prospective in some cases. I nearly always feel good after meditation. Sometimes when we break from meditation it is hard to get back into it again.
I like to include my meditation into my daily routine if possible, although life can sometimes take over. Anyway friend just wanted to share my thoughts on it also.

PS. I try and think more in the positive than the negative if possible but I understand it can be difficult when you are in the mist of negativity.

Thanks cyber, I have been trying meditation and it seems to be working. You are right it's a good way to relax. It has long lasting effects too.

Hi Smeets, I think repetitive negative thinking often starts when we are feeling particularly stressed or under a lot of pressure. For some, those times are the only times it occurs. But for others, it can be the start of a pattern of thinking that becomes fixed.
In many ways, negative thinking is actually a bad habit our minds have got into. Just like any habit, it starts of small and creeps up on you when you realise, it is affecting every area of your life. Habits, can be broken if you are willing to work on it and make the commitment to it.
You said above, that for every negative thought you have, you then come up with a positive one. Or is that the other way around? What works in your favour is, that you recognise, that you have a problem with it. This is very important. Awareness and acknowledgment.
When you start to notice you are having a negative thought, literally say to yourself STOP. Think of something else, something positive or something creative that you can focus your thoughts on. Something calming, repetitive, even mundane. Then when you have done that for a while, do something else that focuses your attention. Go talk to your friends, or watch your favourite tv show, or pick up a favourite book. Preferably something uplifting and engrossing that really grabs your full attention.
Lorraine has mentioned meditation. Meditation is very good for helping to relax the mind and body. But not only that, it teaches you mental discipline. For someone who has a butterfly mind, or a tendency to get caught up in obsessive, repetitive negative thinking. This can be so helpful. We think that we have no control over our thoughts, that they 'just happen'. To a degree this is true, but we have more control over them, then you think. Just as in life, you would curb any tendencies to be over indulgent. Say in drinking too much, eating too much, or doing things that could be overly risky. So is this relevant to the way in which we think. Especially if it causes anxiety or depression.
I think we have all given in to feelings of guilt, remorse and depression, and this is a normal part of human behaviour. But when it becomes excessive and we cannot shake it off, it usually means we need some help with it. The above suggestions I have made, can be helpful to try to combat it, but if it is so bad its having a serious affect on your life or ability to function properly, I would strongly urge anyone to see their doctor about it or another type of professional such as a therapist.
The mind if unrestrained, can be like a runaway train. Sometimes people just need some help to get them back in the driving seat. These are just my own thoughts on negative thinking smeets, things I have found to be very helpful in my own life. I hope it is of some help to you.

thanks kaz, that is some really good advice someone once said to take a diet of the mind. i might not eat certain foods cause they are bad for me or just plain gross. so it is true that I could think less on certain things cause they are unhealthy.

Hi Smeets, I think the important thing is to eat a healthy balanced diet. Eat as much fresh fruit and veg as you can afford. I think we are all aware that certain foods eaten to excess are not good for us. For example too much fried food or foods with lots of saturated fats, because they can clog up the arteries and cause all kinds of health problems, like heart disease and diabetes. Too much sugar and caffeine in the diet is not good either. caffeine in excess can over stimulate the heart and raise blood pressure. Which causes the sensations of acute anxiety and agitation. So my advice to you Smeets, would be to avoid too much of any of these things. Though a little now and again, wont kill you. If you are having to manage on a low income, I know it can be difficult to afford to buy good quality fresh food. If this is the case, most supermarkets do stock a cheap range of multi vitamins. Consider taking one of these every day to supplement your diet if this is the case for you. Especially good for anxiety, is the vitamin B12 complex vitamins. A good multi vitamin, should have this in them. Check the bottle before you buy. I have read studies which have said undiagnosed food allergies can cause anxiety and depression symptoms. As well as being depleted in certain vitamins and minerals. So I would say to anyone who is suffering from anxiety and depression, to get themselves checked out by the doctor, who should give them a full body work up, to make sure that their condition, is not being caused by an underlying physical problem. So don't suffer in silence and think 'its just nerves'. Anything that has an impact on your life and makes things difficult for you, can be helped. I hope this helps Smeets. Love and light Kaz

Dear anyone who can help, I have been through a rash of bad luck recently. I'm going through a divorce which is turning very ugly very fast. I recently lost my job and am having a very rough time finding another. My soon to be ex is vandalizing my property which is costing me money that I don't have. I have always believed that his family has been involved with spells or the occult. I feel negative energy around me a lot. I pray to god every night to help guide me. I feel so lost and helpless and feel like I suddenly have purpose to be on this planet. I am becoming more and more depressed everyday. Can anyone help with some guidance on how to help rid my life of this negativity and get my life back on track please?
