At the risk of sounding as if I am the worst mother in the world....I am gonna start this thread about stuff the children say...now, I am sure lots of you have kids in your life...nieces, nephews, sons, daughters, grandchildren, etc., and the stuff they say makes you grin from ear to ear...but what happens when these same little 'uns become teenagers?! These are some of the results...
Saturday night, we watched Jaws....well, my little 'un happens to be 16 now, and her brother is 13, she simply turned to me afterwards, white as a sheet, and said "do you think that is ENTIRELY SUITABLE for a young child to watch?"
so I replied did she think I was an irresponsible parent....her answer, just a little nod, and she ran off upstairs and cowered under the covers!! she also blamed me the next morning for her nightmare....however, she now admits that she really enjoyed being scared but it was a little too realistic!! She means there were no supernatural thrills in it!!
Anyway, my son has decided he is "into" kung fu, so we showed him Drunken Master (Jackie Chan) the other night....in it there was a scene - badly dubbed - where someone called his opponent "sh&*thead" ....well, he laughed outloud, and said of all the swears he had heard at high school, he had never heard that one before!! well, nice to know he can still be taught swearwords, isnt it?! at the tender age of thirteen, too....
then the other night, we were discussing puberty, and he told me that he was getting hairs on his chest....and then he said in a quiet confidential voice that he thought he was also getting hairs on his shoulders...his dad has them, so this was quite normal....but it worried him as he thought he might be turning into a werewolf......I wonder if we are showing him too many horror films............
anyway, guys, take care, and I look forward to adding to this, and also to reading your stories!!
love and light
