The best analogy to life, I have ever heard came from the author, Robert Greene.
Life is like a boxing match. There are rules, but not everyone will follow them. Some will fight more dirty than others. It is up to you to be able to adapt and counter. But, make no mistake, you are in a boxing match and you cannot quit.

Supposedly you are judged by your boxing finesse buy everyone knows a good solid knock out is what the crowd wants. Slightly more refined then the " fight to the death". Maybe some day it will all be like the girl's figure skating competition....

Hi Robert and George,
I kind of like this quote:
A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water. -Eleanor Roosevelt
I believe she wouldn't mind including men, too. However, a question remains, who the hex's thrown me in that very hot spot (water) in the first place?
There's a time when fighting is out of question. As Murphy's law said, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." True, we should not stop fighting. But if we are in the situation of "damned if we do and damned if we don't", what would we fight/do, then? I believe, in that very situation, we could not reach our solutions, no matter how hard we fight. On the contrary, if we "go slowly, so slowly which seems like we offer some sacrifice, then the situation will reach its end by itself, and joy will come" [this very sentence is inspired by Ancient Chinese text, some thousand years ago].
I believe both of you already heard this Zen koan:
“The wind was flapping the temple flag. Two monks were arguing about it. One said the flag was moving; the other said the wind was moving. Arguing back and forth they could not agree on the truth. The Zen master fianally said, ‘It is neither the wind that is moving nor the flag that is moving. It is your mind that is moving’. The two monks were struck with awe”
To be a bit more modern quote, here:
The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function. —F. Scott Fitzgerald, in The Crack Up
P.S. A bit busy recently. Sorry.
