Whenever we do something, how do we do it?
We do it either from our experience of how we have done it before or through the experience of someone who has done it before. We can recollect from memory – we may have read about it, seen it being done or heard about it. But if we have not read or heard about it, have no personal experience of it and haven’t seen it being done before, then, could we ever do something? Chances are – no. But how does a baby, that is just born, know even with its eyes closed that it has to drink its mother’s milk to survive? Isn’t it a paradox? How is it possible for that young baby to know this? The young infant has just arrived into the world. It hasn’t been told how to do it, it hasn’t seen this before, nor has it ever experienced it - then how does this young baby do it?
This is a very important question to ponder on because this will make us realize certain truths that will help us uncover the mystery of life. But before we can uncover the mystery of life, we must stop and ponder on this: How is it possible for this young baby to be born and start doing things that nobody has taught it to do; things that he has never experienced before? How does this magic happen?

Hi Air,
An interesting post. Yes, much of what we know about life and dealing with whatever experiences come our way is learnt by example. This can work in a positive, but also in a negative way too. For example, if you have come from a family background where personal disputes were settled in a calm and thought out way. Where everyone was encouraged to put across their point of view, and listened to, then they will carry over that practice into their own family life. However, if they have grown up in a more repressed family unit, where self expression was discouraged, or met with anger and raised voices, where everyone was competing to be heard. The odds are that this will be a pattern that is continued also.
Good role models I feel are vital to help a growing child become a well rounded person. Sadly, not everyone has this foundation in their lives. Some things we are born, just knowing how to do for survival. The baby instinctively reaches for the breast for nourishment. The flight or fight reaction is instinctive when we are faced with a dangerous situation. But life skills, emotional intelligence has to be learned. I also think that even though we may have a blueprint to deal with life's challenges from other peoples shared experiences. There will still be situations that will be completely new to us, and when this happens we are very much on our own. It's a sink or swim time isn't it.
People who have a well developed intuition, can use this to help them. But it's still very much 'learn as we go'. I guess the best way of learning how to live, and deal with problems is by personal experience. No one situation is ever exactly the same. And yes, we can listen to the advice of other people. But ultimately, we are on our own and have to make our own choices and live with the consequences. I've come to realize that even when I make a mistake, its not really a mistake, unless I learn nothing from it.
For me the magic, the mystery happens when that desire, yearning is born from within. That spark that motivates someone to explore their spiritual needs - to respond to a higher purpose. Why is it kindled in one person and not in another? That I would really love to know. For me, it is has been with me since I was very young, probably 8 or 9 years old. This sense and awareness of there being something more to my world, then what I could see, hear and feel with my physical senses. I could not explain why I felt as I did. I just knew it was there, and that through the whole of my life it has been a guiding force.
Love and light Kaz
