A spiritual aspirant who is on the path of God realization soon realizes that the statement “The soul is within me.” is erroneous. The soul is not within us. The soul reflects upon the mind and intellect and creates life. The soul, therefore, is not within us.
Then the question that arises is that where is the soul? The soul is like air. The soul is everywhere. The soul is inside us, outside us, on top of us, and below us. The soul is consciousness. The soul is Chit. It is absolutely everywhere. Unfortunately, it is invisible and intangible and therefore we don’t see it. Because we believe that the soul has to be inside us for us to have life inside us, we choose to say that we have a soul inside us. It’s just like an electric bulb that is not powered by electricity. For the bulb to come alight and to give light, electricity should pass through it. The soul energy passes through us to give us life. It is just the illuminator. It is just the energy and it is not a part of us. It energizes us with Prana, with life. Therefore, to that spiritual aspirant who is marching towards God realization, we are not the soul. The soul is everywhere. The soul is God.

The Holy Spirit is within and without Its all around us, Soul is our real self, they call the higher self our body is like its clothes it wears. It learns and has its indiveduality thruugh us, the energy you were talking about is the Holy Spirit, the Sound current that emenstes form God. Our Soul is sepret from other Souls

Hi Air, An interesting post. I find it hard to resonate with the idea of one soul encompassing us all. I do believe we are all connected. I can believe that soul is part of the whole but that we all carry within us individual pieces of that one soul. But if there was just one soul, then how can we relate to the idea that individual souls seek to progress and evolve. The idea of re-birth, reincarnation as a means of attaining progress would not make sense. I'm not saying that this is a fact. Because non of us knows for sure. We can only go by what our heart tells us and what resonates with us as individuals. However, it is a spiritual belief that has been spoken about in other religious paths - Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity for example. So are you saying, that you believe there is no such thing as Individual soul - but 'soul' that is outside of us that we can all connect to, and it is the same soul? Just asking for clarification of what you mean, it is not meant as a criticism of what you are saying.  Love and light Kaz |

I agree with you Kaz... but it is really about how one uses term Soul.. .I use it more like you do... what air is talking about to me is Spirit...which to me is in Everything and IS Everything. ------ Absolute Consciousness.
Soul is a spark from the flame of Spirit.. it is alive within the highest Individualization of out Being,, to me Our Soul is evolving and growing over many lives... Soul is not Spirit persay but contains Spirit and it is of course not our personality consciousness we have either ( our consciousness we have here is only a small part of our full Soul consciousness)..... in latter stages of realization -- our Personality does merge more and more with Soul Consciousness and in even more evolved realizations our Soul does merge with Spirit...at the same time keeping it's own individual Spark on it's own level of consciousness... doing what it needs to do.

Hi Air, As English is not my first language, so I don't know what a soul really is. Anyway, on my long spiritual path, somehow I got an idea of it, more or less. I used to wonder where the air came from when I was (using my mouth) blowing a balloon. From my stomach? But how come there was a lot of air in my stomach like that? Why my belly doesn't explode? Science tells me that I cannot do that in the outer space which is a vacuum and there's no air. Anyway, I don't think I have to care much about science and continue to blow my balloon, just for fun.  P.S. Seriously, I think it's about Logical Types: According to the theory of Logical Types, proposed by Alfred North Whithead and Bertrand Russell (1910 - 1913), one must distinguish between a class (set) and the elements of the class. A statement that refers to a class manifests a higher level of abstraction - in other words, is of a higher logical type - than does a statement that refers to the elements of a class or set. This distinction is of particular importance when two statements are so presented that it can not be determined from the outset whether reference is being made to the class as a whole or to an element of the class. The word "man" can refer to an individual being; it can also refer to a class, the class of all human beings. In the latter case, the concept of "man" is located at a higher level of abstraction and corresponds to a higher logical type. |

To say "the soul is within me" is a bit presumptuous. It would be quite a tight fit! You could argue even a tiny piece would make a difference but how distorted would that be. That is probably why they also say " a little knowledge is a dangerous thing". At one level we kid ourselves we are in complete control. At another level we are naive to think the Divine is anything more then an inspiration . There is a very real disconnect and it works both ways. So I tend to think it is more of how far we can resonate or attune to "The Soul". Because It can't use us as we are now. It just isn't compatible.

Perfect Spirit can only manifest as perfect Life: perfect in this particular moment, always and forever. Elements of human life and reality - the soul in this case - not being compatible with Spirit... that's an impossibility. Life and Spirit cannot be separated, they're one and the same. It would be like examining the makeup of water only after removing all the hydrogen ions. |

My own soul revealed itself to me once while deep in meditation. I have shared this experience before which if anybody would like to read it here...
"I met my soul – my actual SOUL, Yes, I could see and actually communicate with it, it is quite a surreal and strangely reassuring to communicate with a completely supreme intelligence yet a totally separate conscious part of you. Our soul’s radiate pure unconditional love. For your mind to communicate with your soul is something I will never be able to find the words to describe, to see your soul and its overwhelming beauty is equally difficult to explain...but I will try and draw you a picture with my words as best as I can.
Our souls are a little bigger than our fist. It radiates the most beautiful and yet brilliant whitest light from the centre, so so white, but its not so much the intensity of the whiteness its the glimpse of everything inside. The outer colours are simply stunning, like no other colours here on earth, just layers of colours each colour communicating with you, the shape is like as if you cup your hands and gently part them to look through, that is the shape of your soul, and it vibrates, like its breathing, it is pure consciousness encapsulated within unconditional love. My soul then entered my body, through my back between my lower shoulder blades, and sits there right behind my heart.
Now as I began to slowly move out towards space, I could see people up close on earth, and as I slowly moved further back they became translucent and I was able to see the glow within each person and recognise their souls shining within, the further I moved away the more these little lights glowed within the people, and they looked like lights of cities from above, and then I was shown our beautiful earth once more, and again as I moved further out, our earth became transparent and I could see the same (soul) light, glowing and vibrating within, the same happened as I passed each planet and star, each had this (soul) light within, and I was shown how the earth and the planets communicated with each other, through vibrations, then I felt like I was being sucked further and further backwards, past so many universes, back into a vacuum, and it was completely empty of everything visual, but was full of a collective consciousness which then becomes the oneness once more, and I ceased to be again.
At some stage I started to move forwards again, I could see specks of light, all over, like looking at the entire universe (as we know it) through a microscope. (please note friends, that I am leaving lots of information out because it is just impossible to describe and there are no words at this point, it is even beyond feeling and it is not humanly possible to describe it) The journey back to my body from that point takes less that a split second. Once more I am within my body, feeling the heaviness again of this human suit. I open my eyes and I am me once more, but this time I have been given a gift of remembering the entire journey to oneness and back again"
As far as I am aware, the soul is a supremely and entirely separate ‘spark’ of consciousness. The body is a host for the soul and yes the soul is ‘within’ the body, and the soul is seated just behind the heart organ, but IS also 'connected' to the oneness (super-consciousness) outside of the host/body. So it would not be entirely "erroneous" to say that the soul is inside, outside and all around the body!

Hi cyberangel. My understanding as well. I've had depth experiences of the soul also. It was interesting reading yours, difficult to describe such experiences using words, I agree. You did a great job though. |
