The fraternities, especially the Golden Dawn, are notorious for instilling an unease in their initiates about the teachings. Yeah the very teachings given to them for their enlightenment. It is assumed there are "red herrings" and false leads and metaphors misinterpreted. The insincere and the profane are easily deluded by there own selfish ego and that serves them right!
But that is not what I am talking about now. When you enter into a systematic course of study, like I am now, like I did in the past with the Rosicrucians, you are only taught certain things: things the Cosmos deems important for you and your study group. Why?
I think all spiritual studies emphasize a healing or cleaning or catharsis. Just like most religions preach a need to repent from your sins. That is good as far as it goes but is there more then just being the "goody two shoes" ?
I think you would be amazed to hear the channelled revelations from my local study group. But believe it or not those very things come off as a tease compared to what is going on to our mindset. It isn't spectacular or a bi-weekly epiphany. To me it is not even obvious there is even a reason for this at first other then a need to study and know.
All I can say for now is we go to school often to learn a trade or master a certain subject. At the end we can picture ourselves as a technician or teacher or a professional. In the wonderful world of metaphysics we usually can't see that far ahead to know where we are going. Or what we are to become. Or how we need to act once we get there.
That is the ultimate hidden meaning!
