I will never forget, going to a local yard sale in Menifee; they had a cute little miniature French poodle with it's fur dyed in various places. It did not look freaky but rather like a little human being wearing stylish clothes. The bright blue forehead, green legs, and red body patches were just as pleasing to the eye as the sweater Grandma knitted for you for your birthday. How nice!
Only problem being it looked so much like a little human being I felt like it was seeing me with intelligence behind it's eyes. Was I snubbing it by not talking to it and being rude? But how foolish would I look if I asked the dog the price for the Snap-On wrench? Or tried to bargain with it?
In the 20th Century was were exposed more and more with science fiction scenarios in the books and movies to the presence of alien life. In my local study groups it is just assumed that it must be so. Indeed believing in G*d just naturally segues into the presence other beings and other entities coexisting with us. If there is more to life then just stale maths and equations then that also implies much life is also out there. In ways only limited by our own unique state of being and how we can perceive things.
Some of our entertainment is just a horse named Ed or a dog named Stan or even a frog named Kermit. At some level it might just be childist escapism. At another level it might be a devious way of slowly introducing us to the notion of how it would feel to meet something very different then what we are. I have been privy to discussions behind closed doors on the possibilities of what reality is but even that does little to prepare for the eventual meeting of the mystery revealed. Practically none of us actually live the mystery yet. So we can only guess.
How would it feel ?
