As I mentioned in a previous post of mine some things are better left unsaid or are just not appreciated by the "uninitiated". I did not mean this to be arrogant or secretive. I hear some things at my local meetings I can not repeat. But other things are just "attitude adjustments" throw out at the students to challenge them. One student may ask a question nicely and get treated likewise. For me I crave brutal honesty as I don't claim to have a sensitive ego. The moderator has her own personality. I respect that. But the "teacher" is something entirely different!
When we meet again everything may seem to be reversed. We can assume each others roles like actors trying out each others characters. One time your the parent and the next time your the child. Authority varies from time to time. You can be on the top or bottom but you don't stay that way. That only constant seems to be there is always something beyond that knows. If only you could reach out to it.
That there would even be such an entity in existence having the state of grace you seek must imply a need to reach out to it.

I believe that when you want any spiritual experience and you are new in this area so better to get some teacher or institute to help you on this.
I have been to an ayahuasca retreat and then I realized that they were so brilliant that without them I couldn't achieve the spiritual experience I achieved with them. I have been to Spiritvine.net in Brazil, it was a heart touching experience, just loved it.

This one's already old, but I read something recently that has merit - sorry I can't remember the source.
Essentially, everyone has their own teacher/guru inside them - the inner you. It's clouded/suppressed by daily thoughts, but turning your attention inwards (meditation) will always give you direction. Of course that's easy to say, and it only works once you begin to understand it.
A good (external) spiritual teacher, will only be able to help you realise your "self", point you in ways (that work for you) in understanding that, and assist you with removing the distractions. The phrase, "when the student is ready, the teacher will come" is often misinterpreted and doesn't actually imply an external teacher. It merely means, when the student is ready, they will open themselves and begin their journey; the universe is your teacher.
