being shot in a dream

This one is a bit weird as it did'nt invoke the feelings of insecurity that one would expect. I'd love to hear your thoughts:

My family (2 kids and hubby) and I are at home. A relative from my hubby's side is living with us (in the dream - no dependant relatives in reality). I sense it's my brother in law but I'm not sure. Anyhow, he shoots at us with some kind of rapid-fire gun and the house is destroyed. My son and I have been shot many times but we're not panicking - more like shocked. My hubby is making sure we're all alright but no ambulance is called and we don't go to the hospital. It was almost like we were thinking: Alright, what now?

We decide that we'll need to move out (even though it's our house) and start to make plans to leave secretly while the family member has run off after the shooting.

after some chaotic planning (which is a blur). I ask my husband how we're going to come back for our things if we're moving out? He doesn't answer but seems torn between his family and us or something. My son and I are in pain but we're okay - almost like being sore from over exercising - definitely not like being shot. We have shot wounds all over our body but they have almost healed and we're okay.

Colours in the dream were light. We didnt' feel threatened even though we were attacked. kids were alright and hubby and i were just busy thinking about next steps.

I woke up from the dream as my daughter was having a coughing fit so I have no idea what ended up happening.

Thank you for your insight. I don't have any family conflicts that I'm aware of so don't know if this is a dream predicting something that we'll get through together or what.

In dream symbology, the family is about the integration of roles or parts of the self. To explain this, in dreams, the people around us represent different aspects of ourselves and the roles we play in life. Mother, father, sister, friend, doctor, wise person etc. In the dream its family, so that is about your whole self.

Family dreams can also show a desire to reinforce connections to family members, or work through relationship dynamics, especially if there are any issues or undercurrents, tensions, that need to be resolved. You may say on a conscious level, you are not aware of any issues, but in our unconscious state, the mind looks at feelings, nuances of behaviour we may have picked up on throughout the day. Put them away to the back of our minds as not being of any relevance, but disturb us on a feeling vibrationary level.

We pick up signals from other people all the time. Give them no more then cursory attention, but obviously on some level, we notice them and it is in our dream state that those subconscious messages we have received bubble up to the surface. I am not saying this is the case with you, simply demonstrating how things we don't think are important in our day to day life, linger long afterward.

Your husband represents your ideal man, he may embody qualities that you admire and aspire to. The male in dreams also asks us to look at bringing those so called masculine qualities more to the fore in how we deal with life and move forward. The children represent our inner child, the innocent, trusting aspect of the self.

In your dream, you have another relative living with you. He shoots you and your son. Brother in law, is a connection to your husband. Another aspect of him. Another side to him perhaps. Being shot at in dreams symbolises some aspect of you, your personality is being killed off. You survive this, but are left feeling confused and sore, in pain! This may indicate that on some level, you have been hurt, wounded by the actions of another person. It hurts you and your son, or an aspect of the younger, trusting, innocent you.

In the dream, you don't feel threatened, you come through the experience safely. But in the process, part of you has been changed and will not be the same again. The house, has been destroyed!! This is quite a strong statement in terms of dream symbology. The House is YOU. It would suggest that whatever you have experienced, whatever way in which you have been changed inside, has changed your view of yourself and damaged it on some level.

Your husband did not send for an ambulance, did nothing to deal with your wounded state. Ambulances are linked to being carried to a place of safety to be healed. Something traumatic has occurred, but after a brief checking to see that you are ok, life is to go on as normal.

This dream on another level, can be an experience that you have read about, or seen on television. Lots of things we see and hear during our waking hours can affect our dreams.
