I hope someone can help me interpret this dream..
I believe that I was in Hawaii or somewhere tropical with lots of water around..Anyway my cousin Ashley was coming to visit me and it was a confusing drive threw hills and curves and all that. While I was in passenger seat talking to her I brought up her mother, who did recently die from breast cancer. She just broke down and began to cry, she said she is a complete mess over the whole thing and I tried to console her. Anyway then the next thing I know I am in the warm sun in the water on the beach and i can see whales in the water. Then a huge earthquake happens and everyone starts running for the hills because a huge wave of water is about to take the village out. I run and run through buildings, streets,up stairs to the tops of the building along with people I didn't know. That is where my dream ends.
Thanks to anyone that is able to pick this apart..

Hi Tiffany, Hawaii is a beautiful island, Islands in symbology can represent a refuge for relaxation, or isolating oneself, wanting to run away from something or someone. Only you know which of these interpretations relate to your waking life situation. The island is surrounded by water, as you know water in dream symbolism represents the emotions. It can also relate to cleansing, detoxification, washing away any impurities within the psyche and the body. Intuitively I feel drawn to you feeling a little overwhelmed by your emotions at the moment and the island could be your refuge from life with its ups and downs and pressures. Hills and curving landscape relate to your life's journey. The hills being symbolic of the ups and downs, and the winding roads the way life has a habit of going off in different directions. Winding signifying that you do not always get to go straight to where you want to be and end up have to adapt either to restrictions imposed by yourself through work and commitments or to the restrictions imposed on you by other's in your life. Your empathic nature comes to the front while you comfort your friends mother, but again, as you know in dream symbolism the characters in our dreams are all aspects of ourselves. It may be that the tears are another aspect of yourself coming out, do you ever worry about your own health in this way? Being on the beach is a very good place to be a very powerful place. In dream symbology a beach can symbolise the border or bridge between the conscious and the unconscious, standing on the beach enables you to pull tremendous energy from the ocean, using the power of the unconscious to centre you and give you the energy to actualize your life goals. Sand is healing and grounding energy. Whales are symbolic of emotional power, perception and intuition. The earthquake represents great power an explosion that will shake up your world. Change is rarely a disaster, it makes way for even better things to come into your life. But in your dream the earthquake triggers off a tsunami/tidal wave, great emotion surging forward, threatening to overwhelm you, BUT, it did not. You were able to climb up the stairs to the top of the buildings, to safety. Climbing upward indicates growth and advancement, the top of the building is your mind, psyche or higher self. The people you do not know, are simply aspects of yourself you are yet to meet.. This is just my interpretation of your dream Tiffany, please only take from it that which is meaningful and resonates with you and simply ignore the rest. Love and light Kaz

Hello there Tiffany, I would lie to expand on my understanding of dreams, little snippets of which I have tried to express in the chat room at times, but please understand this is only a concept that I have built up from my investigations into the Nature of things here on Earth; rounded off by, the teachings of Nisargadatta. It's not meant to put a damper on dream interpretations, in fact it expands this into a bigger idea altogether. There is One Consciousness, one Presence that enlivens us all, but which is experienced by each individual, each in their own Way, throughout their life, according to their Gunas or inherited Karma/predestined Path, genetics etc. This Consciousness is there in deep sleep, but most of us are not aware of it. As the body/mind entity (you) awakens, it passes through various levels of awareness, one of which is the dream state (night dream), and at this level you may engage in events, "dreams", either vague or lucid, which 'out-picture' for you, some of the things that are present in your mind, especially the emotional stuff not lived out yet. You may or may not get help from these dreams, they may or may not come into fruition, they are simply thoughts projected onto your mind screen at that level of Consciousness. The symbology of such things as flying in your dreams is telling you that at one level, you are not this dense body and really CAN fly, and because you believe you're dreaming, you often do fly, for the reasoning wakeful mind doesn't get in the way. As you enter into wakeful Consciousness, the brain cuts in and you are then ruled by whatever you believe to be true at this level of awareness. BUT, for Advaita, the concept is that it is NOW that you enter the Dream world, the DayDream, inside of which the rule applies, "As I think I AM", and the power of your thoughts dictates your life. With practise, you can watch the body fall to sleep whilst still remaining conscious, and interestingly, be Present and watch the mind/body as it gradually stirs into life again at dawn, born inside its own world with its own personality, but of course you are aware that this body is only a PART of you, and that THAT which you ARE, is always there, never sleeps, never dies, and is Consciousness itself. So, why do we spend so much time interpreting night dreams, and so little trying to understand the day dreams we all share in! Life is a Dream, and it is time now for us all to awake. Contemplation of who you are, will lead you out of the dream. Sai Ram Tiffany. Digby

Hi Digby, Thank you for taking the time to share your own personal insight on the dream state. I found it to be very interesting, I find all aspects of dreams and understanding the dream state and the different levels we travel though to be fascinating As for our waking hours, someone said once and it has always stayed with me, is my daily life simply a dream, or is it when I am asleep that I am truly awake. I can completly relate to what you are saying and it makes perfect sense. I am sure Tiffany will also appreciate your input. Love and light Kaz
