The following is a brief description of the signs of the zodiac. This chart shows the qualities, which are Cardinal, Mutable and Fixed. Each of the 12 astrological signs belongs to a certain element in one of its states. This gives us twelve quite different basic types. These varying qualities provide the “backdrop” to the planetary positions. As each horoscope has different planets in different signs, there can never be a “pure” Aries or a “pure” Gemini. Each horoscope is a highly individual, very complex and usually also very varied combination of parts. In order to understand the signs, we must take into account the typical expressions of the elements, as well as the characteristics belonging to the planets associated with the signs. Aries Cardinal fire; ruled by Mars Willpower, impulsive, initiative, courage, energy, activity Often rushes headlong into things Taurus Fixed earth; ruled by Venus Sensual, pleasure-seeker, steadfast, strives for security Sees red when provoked for a long time Gemini Mutable air; ruled by Mercury Mental type, witty, communicative, mobile, takes pleasure in learning. Rarely touches down Cancer Cardinal water; ruled by the Moon Emotional type, stubborn, seeks safety and closeness Very much a family person Leo Fixed fire; ruled by the Sun Glamour, generosity, organizer, the center of attention Likes to take the lion's part Virgo Mutable earth; ruled by Mercury Precise, differentiates, does what is necessary, utilitarian A critical point of view Libra Cardinal air; ruled by Venus A sense of beauty and proportion, tactful, seeks balance and harmony. Sometimes hovers between the scales Scorpio Fixed water; ruled by Pluto Corrosive, passionate, piercing, extreme situations Frequently quarrels with the spirits he called Sagittarius Mutable fire; ruled by Jupiter Free spirit, carefree, love of movement, cheerful Wanderlust, often seems to be elsewhere Capricorn Cardinal earth; ruled by Saturn Enduring, has a sense of purpose, proud, ambitious Can get stuck in craggy heights Aquarius Fixed air; ruled by Uranus Communicative, humanitarian, progressive, fraternal Universal spirit with occasional astonishing obstinacy Pisces Mutable water; ruled by Neptune Sensitive, compassionate, helpful, sociable Very adaptable, hard to get a hold on

If you are born on the cusp only what has gone before will effect you in astrology.
IE. You are born 23rd July, that will make you a Leo but you will still be slightly effected by Cancer.
But say you was born 20th July the other side of the cusp, that would make you Cancer, but you would not be effected by the traits of Leo.
You can only gain anything from what was there just before, not what was about to come.
Hope that makes sense.

Astrology is more complex than just ... "What's your sign?" As in life it is not simply black and white. Yes, sometimes you will find that another sign seems to suit your traits better than your Sun Sign does. This could be an indication of your Acendant Sign (also referred to as your Rising Sign). When your rising sign is stronger than your sun sign you will notice that more traits of the rising sign are prodominent. We all have a rising sign that helps to round us out as individuals.
Hope this helps... Jackie.
God bless! Silvia

Hopefully over the next few weeks we will have a look at different aspects of Astrology, so by the end people will be able to read their chart from an ephemeris and be able to make some sense of all the tables and terminologies. Then they should also be able to read other peoples charts at a glance to understand the aspects that make that person them.
SO keep checking back and we can all learn together.
God Bless.

Hi everybody!
This is my first post as I'm new to this message board. So first let me introduce myself: My name is Alan and I live in Los Angeles. I was born and raised in Israel and moved to the US about 7 years ago.
My spiritual journey began when I was 16 and had its ups and downs. I recently started to learn Kabbalah which is considered Jewish Mysticism but in reality its a universal body of spiritual knowledge - probably one of the oldest, if not the oldest.
One of the things I got interested in was astrology. After my divorce I tried to find ways and tools to "evaluate" relationships without going through the entire roller coaster.
So I looked into Jewish astrology and compiled the information on my website. I am curious to find the similarities between the Jewish astrology (which, as I understand it, is based on the moon calendar) and the "regular" astrology (which I think is based on the sun calendar).
I'd appreciate any feedback on this matter!
Thanks, Alan

My mother is sort of an amateur astrologer. And when I was a child, her best friend was a very good professional astrologer. So from an early age, I've known the validity of it.
Over the years, I've consulted a few of them.
My Sun sign is Leo, in the 12th house. I have 5 planets in Leo, all in the 12th, including Mars, Venus, Pluto and Jupiter. The 12th house has to do with intuition, metaphysics, the subconscious... inward "stuff". And yet Leo is very "outward". So all of that energy tends to be focused in an unusual way for me, at least.
My Ascendant is Virgo, as is Mercury.
It's an interesting placement, if you're into astrology.

I am proud to be a fish!! I've done a little research, and supposedly in ancient Babylon the Pisces constellation represented two Goddesses, Annunitum and Simmah, tied together. Weird eh?

Hi dragon, because you are born on the cusp, would need to know time of birth to be sure of your sun sign. I have a feeling that your sun sign is sag, but still need time to be sure. Knowing the time i can look at other aspects of your chart.
Nic pic by the way:) Talk to you soon. Moon

Hi Grace, it is true i have a higher then average understanding of astrology however am no expert. I have a programe that i use called WOW to interpret charts, Leon is familar with this. I am happy to provide infomation regarding some of the main aspects but will need your place of birth, it may take a while. In time i will learn to condense the infomation found, so that i will be able to provide info more readily:)

Hello, my name is Alice, I am Brazilian, I love astrology, my zodiac sign is Libra and I thought to my cosmic DNA that says I have Sun in Libra, Moon and Ascendant in Gemini PEIXES.E reads: This is your astral code , the cosmic instrument you have to create a happy environment and make great life with your presence. As you combine the order and reason, which places the path of his life many complex situations, as you have the perfect combination to order them and clarify them. Need to understand that having a code astral of such magnitude and complexity will only make sense in the midst of complex situations as well. So do not be alarmed with the increasing complexity, but think of it as a call to the destination you express your talents. In addition, during the course of life you will have to decide which star to steer by, if the passion, surrendering to that ardor which they are in continuous search for something or someone worth really worth it and why, or for who you dedicate your whole life and energy, or, conversely, to outshine the star of love, ardor that reducing the benefit of an attitude but less intense and more comprehensive understanding, it allows the differences coexist in the best possible way .
