It is a known fact that we are not the body; we are the spirit, the soul, the atman within. Every time a person dies, we can see that the body is left behind and the spirit, the soul leaves the physical world. Unfortunately, we are unable to live with that reality or the realization. Why is it so? It is because of our mind; our mind makes us so attached to our ego that it refuses to accept that we are not this body. Our mind refuses to accept that we are the Spirit. Therefore, every time the mind gets a chance, it distracts our attention from the truth. The very next moment, the mind attracts the body with so many desires and so many pleasures. It makes us believe that we are the body and not the soul. This drama continues day in and day out until, we realize the truth so deeply that the mind gets defeated and the ego is annihilated. When the mind is defeated and the ego is annihilated, the soul reigns. It is only then the known becomes known. Otherwise what is known is unknown and we simply live and die. We miss the opportunity of realizing the truth because we do not discover the known and it remains unknown.

Hi air. As I mentioned yesterday, the ego is an essential aspect of physical incarnation. Likewise our desires and that which we gain pleasure from. These are all beautiful aspects of being human, and they assist us in our self-actualization journey. Annihilation of the ego, along with the renunciation of desire and pleasure, might have been an appropriate path for religious sages centuries ago, sure. But it's no longer necessary or even appropriate in this consciousness soul age we've now entered. Beware religious rhetoric that would have you despise aspects of yourself and your humanity. Dogma of that nature is not coming from a place of love and truth.
