I admit I am all About 'emotion' sometimes. Ironically, that is Not how I was raised; my family is All about Not showing emotion, not going to any kind of extreme on either side, to the point that I was slapped for crying or showing strong emotion as a child (the lessons did not Take, lol).
I love the teachings of Buddhism and have found great comfort in the letting go of attachments and all things that Bring On rampant emotion in me; all the same, I refuse to detach completely and not Express myself when I feel strongly about things. My guides have been teaching me that emotion is more a human expression of "feeling", and I think I have written here about it before; I need to express my feelings as they do - as Energy and not Emotion, for apparently expressed 'emotion', while a human trait, is like wasting energy! (who would have thought it? lol)
Anyway, since I created the thread about How Much...Love?, I want to share that I do Not equate real 'Love' with Emotion in any way, other than creating another wonderful reason to Express our emotions positively. 'Feeling', to me, goes deeper than outwardly-manifested emotion - 'Feeling' touches the Core of how we experience this life and, also in my opinion, will continue past this human existence.
In my opinion, it's important to acknowledge All "feelings", be they thankful, loving, penitent, angry or Anything in between!
Once we acknowledge the feeling, we can have it sit down so to Examine it; take a closer look, and see how it makes us Feel. See whether we Like what it is doing to our internal furniture, you know?
Are we better off for having that feeling around? If so, Great. Fix it a cup of tea and see if it has suitcases.
If Not, thank that feeling for stopping by and politely Send It Packing.
No matter if we are Not completely clear on whether thoughts or feelings are ‘ours’ or those we are receiving from Others; even if we Know they are 'our' feelings, this can be helpful in taking back Control of what plagues us each day...recognize them as Useful, or Intrusive, and then Deal with them accordingly
Love and Wisdom,
Mary Anne
