Some great quote from Batman Begins (2005):
Bruce Wayne: I wanted to save Gotham. I failed.
Alfred Pennyworth: Why do we fall sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.
A great (medical) hypnotist once said if you (whether intentionally or not) said something wrong, the listener would correct it in his/her mind. For example, if you said, “mississippie” (pie) they would get it anyway and automatically correct it. There also some research on this which using all misspellings but any readers still could read it without any problem.
I’ve read this comment about some Android app. (Korean English Dictionary):
I ate strangely
I had a lovely dinner and wanted to compliment the owner of his restaurant. He's a nice guy, speaks some English, and always gives us free soda. People usually say 'I ate well.' but I like playing with language so I looked up the word for 'wonderfully' using this app. I used the word and got a look from the owner. He told me that the word meant 'strangely,' so I showed him the app's mistake to explain. We all got a good laugh. 1/5 stars, would not eat strangely again.
I still think that it’s a nice app anyway. At least that commentator learnt something new (even by mistake) and would never “eat strangely” again, right? Hahaha
Anyway, that might be the case about last night.
I haven’t chatted to my (dear) friends for a while after I’ve changed my sleeping time. I used to work all night and sleep in the day (I’m a freelancer, working at home). Last night I had woke up and so craved for potato chips. I could not resist myself and went out to 7-11 and bought some Lay’s. Oh! sorry, too much details, right?
I login to the chat room but no one was there yet. Lucky that even Kaz was so busy on cooking her dinner (something about quorn nugget which sounds very yummy!) but she was worried about my mental health if she let me talked to myself alone like that any longer, so she decided to chat with me. After that Ace came. While I was talking to him about Spiritual healing, Human Aura, Therapeutic touch etc., I noticed that there were two viewers there, too. So I invited them to join us by saying, “You can login as a guess.” And Ace said, “You mean, guest?” Lucky that he helped correcting me in time because if anyone had to login by a guess, it might take a bit too long time to succeed.
My point is I can learnt this word better by doing this mistake. Next time I don’t need to have the second guess about this, but love the second (or more) guests. lol
P.S. Please come and join our chat room. You are more than welcome to be our guests without any guessing.
