Dear Friends,
I wanted to share something with you all. Today my son and I cycled 18km through our locality but we took a path we had never explored before. Now for my son it was just a journey with a means to an end...(his reward was uninterrupted game time when we arrived home for kindly accompanying me but for me it was like getting an energy boost.
As we cycled through woodlands, hills, over rivers and brooks, through tunnels and bog lands, I saw creation unfold before my eyes, creation that maybe has remained untouched for possibly hundreds of years. The sun was out in parts and cast a new light on old surroundings, the hills magically became alive as the shadows from the clouds gracefully dispersed and allowed the sunbeams to light up and magnify the beautiful environment with cascading hues of every colour.
The inquisitive nature of nature makes for some wonderful companions on our journey. We were joined by butterflies and dragonflies along our travels. The butterflies would just gently flutter around us as we rested, to see them also take a ‘time-out’ upon a rock...displaying their splendid patterned wings for us to admire...but always keeping just enough distance as not to intrude on our day. The dragonflies were much more playful, swooping and dancing around, enquiring and intrigued by our presence in their domain...they would race us at times or try and fly between us as if to show off their air-gymnastics. It was wonderful to watch and to take part in...And I was so grateful for the wonderful welcome.
As we continued the warm gentle breeze brushed against us as if to slow us down...reminding us to breathe and to take our time...there was no rush. Some parts we had to walk as the hills were just a tad too steep for us (especially me, the old one lol) but during those parts that’s when I felt I was being kissed by the earth, with each and every step I felt such a connection with Mother Earth that I really can’t find the words to express, but let’s just say, she really spoke to me in parts. She soothed my aching joints and muscles. I am now wondering if those inclines were purposely put there for that very reason, not to stop us in our tracks, but to slow us down, to ground the traveller, to refresh and refuel us with the elements.
Anyway my friends, I just wanted to share this as sometimes we can become too complacent and forget that life, souls and energy is not just with friends and family or within books and movies, or games and Social (Sofa) media, but it’s everywhere, and sometimes we need to re-connect to it. It was also lovely to see so many people (and families) out enjoying the outdoors, acknowledging each other as we passed, with a soft smile, nod of the head or a gentle “Hello”.
We passed so many puffing and panting, and really struggling with the trail and then there were others who were laughing and joking along the way. Each had their own reasons for choosing to cycle today, myself included, but I did wonder and ask in my mind “What is your story I wonder?” as we passed each person. I made eye contact with each and every person and those who looked the most stressed...often gave me the warmest smile.
I am including some photos of our outing today. Enjoy
Love and Light
