What is out there? Can you see it clearly? We all know of Pollyannas with rose colored glasses driving the cynics to shame if not outright fury. But is tunnel vision the same as focused concentration?
One of the best litmus tests I have ever hear in deciding the authenticity of "higher suggestions" is that those very much above you will never mention anything derogatory. Never. Your guilty conscience will do that with great relish so "they" do not need to bother. You pretty much know every sordid detail of what you did. But what about the others? What secrets do they hide? Does it even exist? If you ignore it does it go away?
A lot is made of martydom as in physical suffering but I rarely if ever hear the ancients going into therapy because of what they saw or experienced. As if mental illness did not exist in the old days. We speak of the sacrifices to be made on the road to enlightenment. One such burden I really belive is intellectual honesty. We were not called to be ignorant but to know and experience all. And deal with it. Along the way I just know there will be sights too horrible to imagine much less see.
It is a wound not to be ashamed of.
It is often said "you are not yet ready" as in receiving revelations. But I know it means everything else too. As to exactly what I do not know. I am not yet ready. But I try not to kid myself it doesnt exist just because I am too scared to look on it.
Being brave is not contradictory to being spiritual.

Hi Gruntal, Pollyanna? Like Louis Armstrong's song? “I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom, for me and you.”But Nietzsche seemed to disagree. “Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, “and if you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”Hmm…to be more modern, How about this? “I see dead people.”-The Sixth Sense, the movie. Or a little bit romantic. “I See You.”-Avatar A scientist pinned down a butterfly, to study it. But how can a butterfly be a real/alive butterfly if he cannot fly? A biologist uses microscope to study a very tiny little cell of human body. But how can he see the mysterious smile on the lips of Mona Lisa with his microscope, no matter how powerful it is? I always love what Chuang Tzu wrote more than 2,000 years ago: Once Chuang Chou dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn't know he was Chuang Chou. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Chuang Chou. But he didn't know if he was Chuang Chou who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Chuang Chou. Between Chuang Chou and a butterfly there must be some distinction! This is called the Transformation of Things.- Translated by Burton Watson The world doesn’t change much, does it? We are still not sure if we are dreaming as the butterflies or those butterflies are dreaming as us. Who will be awake first? Maybe one thing for sure is this: whenever we see something getting bigger and bigger, don’t waste our time wondering why or what it is. The only thing we should do is…duck! (adapted from "Dumb Jokes" by Bryant Oden. And I don’t think it’s dumb at all.
